Saline-Chelsea Ski Team has good night on the slopes

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Laura Dillmann for the information in this story.)

Frigid temperatures and high winds can’t stop the Saline-Chelsea Ski Team.

The team competed in slalom on Tuesday night and put in a great performance.

The boys had their best finishes this season. Led by Erik Koseck, with a 2nd place finish and Caden Faupel in 9th, the team seemed to thrive in the cold temps.

Rounding out the scoring positions were AJ Mitchell (32) and Mason Kipley (40). Christian Harrison also raced, with a spill on the first run slowing his time, but completing an excellent second run.

Katie McInnis led the girl’s team, placing 8th overall, followed by Nikki Dillmann in 12th. Also scoring for the girls was Ally Dillmann (24) and Emily Hornberger (31).

Elizabeth Johnson’s first run had an excellent time, but unfortunately, she had missed a gate near the finish and was disqualified. Grace Yoders also raced for the team, with a 39th place finish.

“I’m really proud of this team,” said coach Laura Dillmann. “They all looked out for each other, making sure everyone stayed warm and covered up. The parents are great, too, setting up heated tents for the racers to warm up in at the bottom of the hill.”

The coach said it takes a lot of volunteers to make a ski race run smoothly, and everyone worked hard to make sure we finished in record time to go in for a well-deserved hot chocolate.
