Update: Power is now being brought back on line with the exception of the immediate area of the damage.
A semi-truck hit overhead power lines and snapped a major transmission line in Chelsea just before 10 a.m. this morning.
The incident took place at Book and Wenley streets and a large portion of the east side of the city is currently without power.
The electric department is working on fixing the problem.
