Senior Center offers pilot program for those without transportation

The Chelsea Area Senior Center wants to know if there are seniors in the community who could benefit from reliable transportation and socialization.

In addition, they are looking for volunteers who would be willing to transport these isolated community members to the senior center.

Through a new program called, “Each One, Reach One” volunteers will provide once a week transportation for seniors to and from the Chelsea Senior Center at 512 Washington St.

Volunteer drivers receive mileage reimbursement, supplemental accident and liability insurance along with appreciation and recognition programs, according to information provided by Trinh Pifer, senior center executive director.

Prospective volunteers, as well as seniors looking for a free and safe way to get to the Center, are asked to contact Barbara MacKenzie at 734-712-7259 or email her at [email protected].

For additional information call Kay Heller or Pifer at 475-9242.
