Johnny Secreto will be at the market Saturday.
Johnny Secreto will be at the market Saturday.

At the Saturday Farmers’ Market on Sept. 14, the Children’s Tent theme is “Chalk it Up” so be sure to bring your children and let them create some temporary art at the market.

Remember, the market runs from 8 a.m.-noon in the library parking lot.

IMG_0094 (2)In addition, Girl Scout Troop 41095 will explain Compact Fluorescent Lightbulb (CFL) recycling.

At 10 a.m., music will be provided by Keith Parmentier.

And, here are some fun tips to make your farmers’ market experience more enjoyable.

* Bring reusable bags. Tuck a few reusable shopping bags (with handles) into a pocket; merchants sometimes run out. And you’ll be helping the environment.

* Have cash on hand. Credit cards and checks aren’t always accepted.

* Dress for comfort. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for the weather.

* Pack a cooler. If you live far away, or plan to spend some time at market, bring a cooler for produce. Consider a wheeled cart or travel bag for bulk shopping.

* Arrive at the 8 a.m. to ensure the best selection.

* Go late. Great deals are often available around closing. Many vendors will lower their prices, rather than hauling their produce home. (However, some items may be sold out.)
