Sept. 28: historical society, Monitor Base Ball match fundraiser

The Chelsea Alehouse Brewery is teaming up with the Chelsea Area Historical Society for a special fundraising event on Saturday, Sept. 28 starting at 1 p.m.

It’s an afternoon of baseball, crafted brews and local history planned for area residents and visitors.

The event will begin with a fun-filled exhibition game between the CAHS Monitor Base Ball Club of Chelsea and a squadron of Alehouse boys at Timbertown Park at 1 p.m.

After the match, the good times will continue at the Chelsea Alehouse Brewery with locally crafted brews and eats.

Also, local historian Cary Church will recollect Chelsea’s saloon history with a discussion of the integral role the saloons played throughout the city’s development, covering the earliest watering holes to present-day favorites. The talk will commence around 3 p.m. at the brewery.

A percentage of the sales from the day at Chelsea Alehouse Brewery will be donated to the Chelsea Area Historical Society by owner Chris Martinson. The fundraiser will assist the CAHS in its mission to gather and preserve area artifacts, as well as educate people about the rich history of the Chelsea district.
