Some primo parking spaces now open downtown

Daniel Carrara and Lucas DeRosia, Boy Scout Troop 476, lead the Pledge of Allegiance on Sept. 11.

Two recently approved traffic control orders have opened up some prime parking spaces downtown.

By a unanimous vote of the Chelsea City Council Tuesday, Sept. 11, the parking spots, currently striped off in front of the old police station (on the south side of East Middle Street) are now designated as 3-hour parking, and they are expected to be re-striped.

In addition, the parking spots that were used by police officers in the northeast corner of Parking Lot No. 1 are also now 3-hour parking spots.

Previously, the spots just off the alley leading to East Middle Street were for city vehicles only.

Council Member Ann Feeney commented on the consent agenda item saying, “We’re freeing up parking spots (by approving this item) and they’re really good ones, too.”
