Marcus Kaemming, principal of North Creek Elementary reports that the current enrollment in the elementary school is 483 students. This compares to 462 students in the 12-13 school year and 472 students during the 2011-2012 school year.

In addition, according to his written report to the Chelsea Board of Education, staff at the school plans to focus on the bottom 30 percent of students who need to improve their math skills as well as communication.

The school’s theme this year is the Olympics and you’ll see staff wearing “Team North” shirts.

Stacie Battaglia, principal of South Meadows Elementary School, reported that there are 151 students in third grade, 178 students in fourth grade and 174 in fifth grade for a total of 503 students. There are 29 new students in the school.

In her report to the Board of Education, Battaglia said that staff at the school will focus more closely on science while continuing efforts in reading and writing.

South’s theme is “Positively South,” this year and the school-wide guiding principals are respect, responsibility and safety.

Sue Gregg of the district’s food services department reported to the Board of Education that she and her staff have set a goal to “once again increase the lunch and breakfast program participation.”

The food services staff also plans to make sure that each student has a fruit and a vegetable on the tray. “Protein, grain and calories are still a requirement in our students’ lunches,” she wrote.
