The Chelsea Area Festivals and Events Committee thanked the sponsors of the 2015 Sounds and Sights with an appreciation party on July 13 at The Common Grill.

Over 100 guests attended the event, which featured an assortment of entrées and desserts by Chef Craig Common and a variety of wines from the Trinchero Family Estates portfolio. Chelsea resident and General Sales Manager of Trinchero Family Estates, Scott Stubbs, helped organize the event.

“I would like to give a sincere thank you to all of the sponsors and the community,” Stubbs said. “We are truly fortunate to live in an energetic community that encourages the arts and comes together to create events like Sounds and Sights.”

Stubbs introduced guest wine educator, Barry Wiss, who was born and raised in New Orleans and has worked in the hospitality industry since age 15. Currently, he is vice president of Trade Relations for Trinchero Family Estates, and is responsible for establishing the industry’s most creative and innovative culinary and wine education programs, Vine to Dine®. He is also the author of the World Wine Challenge® and the vice president of the Society of Wine Educators.

Wiss captivated the crowd with warm, personal stories about the winemakers and gave insight into the many variables that are considered when creating wines full of character.

The night began with one red wine, a Tera d’Oro Barbera from Amador County, and a rosé from the first Washington state brand for Trinchero Family Estates, Charles and Charles Rosé.

Next, a tour of tastings included six wines from California, four originating from the North Coast region: Trinchero Napa Valley Chicken Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon, Joel Gott Grenache, Folie a Deux Chardonnay and Complicated Pinot Noir.

Also poured were Terra d’Oro Amador Zinfandel from Amador County in the Sierra Foothills and SeaGlass Riesling from Monterey in the Central Coast.

Numerous prizes, sponsored by Trinchero Family Estates, were awarded at the end of the night. The winner of the grand prize this year was Victory Lane Quick Oil Change, and they have the choice of a trip for two people to California, or a case of wine per month for a year.

The grand prize winner from last year, Jennifer Fairfeild, owner of The Garden Mill, returned with a gallery of images from her recent trip. “The atmosphere was so relaxing and enjoyable. I would like to thank Trinchero Family Estates and Scott Stubbs for being so accommodating and for planning a wonderful experience,” she said.

For those who have not tried them, Trinchero Family Estates wines will be featured in the social and entertainment tent at the Sounds and Sights Festival this year.
