Attention all musicians, singer/songwriters, jugglers, magicians, performers, dance troupes, artists and other street arts performers.

Sounds & Sights on Thursday Nights is holding auditions for this year’s entertainment lineup. Auditions will be heldon March 18 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Chelsea First United Methodist Church, 128 Park St. across from the Purple Rose Theatre.

In its ninth season, the downtown Chelsea event is one of the state’s largest weekly music attractions, according to information about the event.

Crowds as large as 2,000 people attended this free concert series in 2012.

“The talent and level of ability we see is just unbelievable,” said Craig Common, event co-organizer and owner of The Common Grill, in a press release.

“It has been very rewarding over the years to watch performer’s careers grow and to see bands like Bill Bynum and Dragon Wagon graduate from performing at Sounds and Sights on Thursday nights to making it to the main stage at the Sounds and Sights Festival,” he said.

There are more than 100 paid spots available.

Here’s an application and a spot to reserve a time here.

Those auditioning will then have 3-5 minutes to perform at one of four stages before a panel of judges made up of local musicians, committee members, merchants and maybe a few celebrities.

Performers should bring any necessary equipment they need and there are 30-40 audition slots available on a first-come basis.

Those that cannot make the audition or are not able to secure a time slot should still fill out the application online and send in a CD, demo, or email a link to an audio demo.

Selected performers will be contacted to schedule performance dates based on availability. There is no charge to audition.

The event kicks off June 6 and runs every Thursday (except July 4) through Aug. 15.

In addition to the 10-week schedule, the 3-day Chelsea Sounds and Sights Festival takes place July 25-27. The festival, now in its 38th year, raises funds that support the free summer-long concert series.
