With warmer weather finally on tap in Chelsea, Police Chief Ed Toth reminded motorists to be careful while driving around the city as there will be more children outside playing.
During his monthly report to the Chelsea City Council, Toth reminded drivers to adhere to speed limits and be sure to come to a full stop at stop signs for everyone’s safety.
Toth said officers will be patrolling to ensure everyone’s safety.
He said that in February officers responded to 177 calls for service, wrote 10 citations and investigated five traffic crashes.
He said the department had 24 open cases. There were seven cases under review at the prosecutor’s office and two cases awaiting blood results.
Police are actively investigating 15 cases.
Yes – to all the drivers who roll through or completely disregard the stop sign at Grant and W. Middle: the RED STOP SIGNS means STOP. They’re not yellow YIELD signs, as most of you seem to imagine they are.
