St. Louis Center welcomed a visit from U.S. Rep. Tim Walberg (R-7) on Tuesday, Nov. 5, as Congress was not in session due to the National Election day.

Walberg has been a close follower of St. Louis Center since he began representing the district in Congress, and was interested in visiting the new Children’s Homes that were dedicated in 2018 and the progress that was being made on Phase II of St. Louis Guanella Village.

Walberg has been an advocate for the federal funding that St. Louis Center receives through Home and Community Based Services, and has been in communication with the Director of the Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) to support the continuation of these funds.

“St. Louis Center does a great job of combining private and government funds to accomplish its goals in caring for people with I/DD, and I’m pleased to see the progress they’re making in the construction of St. Louis Guanella Village. It’s a model program that others can follow,” Walberg said.

St. Louis Center is a residential care facility caring for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and has been in Chelsea since 1960.
