The more than 400 students at North Creek Elementary School learned why they should be “Wild about North Creek” Friday afternoon, Oct. 19, while learning the school’s official chant and school song.
The school’s theme for the year is wild animals and during the year, the students will learn about jungles and rain forests in addition to ways that each youth can help the earth become a better place.
They were given a chance to offer ways to not only help the earth but also each other.
Accompanied by first-grade teacher Eric Robinson, who played the guitar, the children got their first chance to learn the school’s official sang.
They met the North Creek Super Safari hero (reading consultant Lisa Kaemming) while kindergarten teachers Melanie Ichescho (the mouse) and Sandy Lantis (the lion) acted out one of Aesop’s most beloved fables — “The Lion and the Mouse.”
(In case you’ve forgotten, the moral of this story is: Little friends may prove to be great friends.)
Plus, Sable, a Labrador retriever and her handler Barb Marshall, were introduced. Sable is the official reading dog of North Creek and will visit every classroom during the year.
