Each year, Our Savior Lutheran Church hosts a free Christmas Day dinner at 1 p.m. for anyone who would like to share a meal together. (Publisher’s note: I went last year and had a great time, met wonderful people and enjoyed a fabulous meal.)

The meal takes place at 1515 S. Main St. (next to McDonald’s) and the food is donated from around the community and gathered by Faith in Action. Volunteers then cook and serve a spectacular holiday feast.

Many people celebrate on alternate days with adult children or out of town family, and if you’d like to be part of a big group on Christmas day, this can be just the ticket for having dinner with friends, old and new.

Ken Toney has been the chief chef for more years than anyone can remember.

“I’m like a lot of folks – doing Christmas with family on another day, so I just love to come in here and put this on.” He said. “It’s my home church and I know where everything is, so we have 60-70 people come in and it’s a pretty good time.”

There’s no reason for anyone to eat alone on Christmas, so if you’d like to attend or to volunteer, please call Faith in Action at 475-3305 so they have an idea how many people will be attending.
