The Kaleidoscope Concert series continues on Wednesday, April 16 at 7 p.m., with the award winning music and comedy group, Three Men & a Tenor.

The concert is free, but donations are requested to help support the music series for the 2014-15 season. The annual fundraiser concert will be co-sponsored by the Chelsea Community Foundation, which will match all funds raised at the concert.

The concert will be held at the Washington Street Education Center auditorium, 500 Washington St.

Three Men and a Tenor has twice won the Best Entertainment Award from the Michigan Meetings and Events Magazine and was named the “Highest Rated Touring Group” by the Michigan Touring Arts Association. They have played in 38 states and Canada, which is a marvel, considering they wanted “see the country and have some-one else pay for it.” The group sings and performs a bit of everything from Frank Sinatra and the Platters to the Beatles and Led Zeppelin.

They have performed on stages with The Beach Boys, Lee Greenwood, Chuck Berry, and Dionne Warwick, and were featured in a national PBS-TV special, ‘Three Men and a Tenor- In Concert” in Minneapolis, Boston, Miami, Las Vegas and Nashville. They twice toured Germany to entertain the troops and their families at over 15 different U.S. Military Bases and sang at the bedsides at Landstuhl hospital for the wounded soldiers who had just arrived off the front lines of battle from Iraq and Afghanistan for medical treatments — perfect medicine to put a smile on the faces of and help heal through music and humor.

“We’ve hosted them twice as part of our Kaleidoscope Concert series,” said Shawn Personke, director of wellness and public relations for Silver Maples of Chelsea in a press release. “They are a great big, giant hug of fun and a perfect fit for the big stage at the Washington Street Education Center auditorium.”

“Each year, we hold this spring concert to help raise funds for the next year’s concerts. We’re so excited that the Chelsea Community Foundation has stepped up to match all donations received from the general public, up to $2,000,” she said.

The Chelsea Community Foundation will host a pre-concert reception with refreshments at 6:15 p.m.  The Foundation board is made up for community members, including Pete Feeney, Anne Merkel, Art Dils, John Daniels, Dennis Doan, John Dunn, Maribeth Hammer, Will Johnson, Anne Mann, Mike Mitchell, Paul Schaible, and Warren Widmayer, many of whom will be on hand to talk about the concert, the foundation’s mission, and the other ways the foundation helps to build community in Chelsea.

Free transportation is available to residents who reside within the city limits.

Reservations can be made by calling 475-4111.

The Kaleidoscope Concert series is brought to the Chelsea community through a partnership between Silver Maples and the Chelsea Senior Center.

The last concert of the 2013-14 season will be held on May 20 and will feature James Dapogny’s Quartet with vocalist Heather Schwartz and cellist Mike Karoub.

Free tickets for this concert, held at Silver Maples of Chelsea, will be available on Monday, April 21, at the Chelsea Senior Center.
