Tickets on sale for the Feb. 9 Chelsea Education Foundation gala fundraiser

The Chelsea Education Foundation (CEF) Annual Gala Fundraiser takes place Feb. 9 at the Chelsea Comfort Inn Conference Center beginning at 6 p.m. and tickets are now on sale.

“This elegant evening will feature dinner, dancing, and an exciting array of silent and live auction items, all devoted to raising funds in support of lifelong learning in Chelsea,” according to information about the event.

There will be A filet mignon dinner (vegetarian option is also available), cash bar, and dancing.

Tickets are $75 per person, with pre-paid tables of eight at $560. Sponsorships are still available for as little as $150. Please contact CEF Publicity Chair April Gasbarre for more information.

More than 20 years ago, former Chelsea School District Superintendent Joe Piasecki had a vision to enhance the educational opportunities available to members of the Chelsea community. That vision became a reality in 1991 with the creation of the CEF, a non-profit, all-volunteer organization that provides grants to educators and scholarships to students.

In 2012, CEF helped make more than 50 students’ dreams of pursuing a college education come true. These students are pursuing degrees in engineering, nursing, teaching, business, and other fields. And, they range from young adults just graduating from Chelsea High School to non-traditional students seeking a career change in a difficult economic environment.

Thousands more residents – from preschoolers to senior citizens – have benefited from grants to public schools and private institutions that enrich the entire community. From clubs that foster leadership and mentoring in our schools, to field trips that imbue students with a sense of history and civic pride, to inter-generational programs that enrich young and old alike, these grants facilitate programs and projects that might not otherwise be possible.

CEF holds one fundraiser each year, a gala event that features live and silent auctions, dinner, and dancing. This event is made possible by sponsorships, in-kind donations, and ticket sales, all supported by businesses and individuals who understand the vital role of lifelong learning.
