Downtown Chelsea has been busy as Chelsea Area Garden Club (CAGC) members prep city flowerbeds on Main Street for winter.
In addition to removing dead annuals, the club is planting 1,700 bulbs — 1,500 tulips and 200 daffodils — in multiple color combinations that will bloom in April and May.
CAGC President Cathy Gillem said, “Helping beautify the city is one of our club’s most popular activities. Members enjoy getting together to plan, plant and maintain the beds, and we receive lots of positive feedback from passersby.
“We appreciate the city investing in the bulbs and the dedicated city employees who do a wonderful job watering the flowers throughout the summer.”
Club members also plant and maintain a flowerbed and flower-filled pots at the Chelsea District Library, including two large pots at the library’s main entrance that are redesigned multiple times a year to reflect Michigan’s four seasons.
Thank you CAGC. The flowers always look so beautiful.
I also enjoy all of the beautiful flowers on all my walks . I have taken many pictures to share with others .
When my friend and I have come to Chelsea to eat at Zou Zou’s before meditation, we always appreciate the beautiful flower bed in front of the parking lot. Thank you for your dedication to all of the flowers in Chelsea.
It is a treat every spring to see what combination of bulbs have been
planted in downtown Chelsea. I look forward to it every year! Thanks
for your dedication and for putting a smile on my face every spring.
