Time’s running out to register for ‘Guiding Good Choices’

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Lindsay Baker for the information in this story.)

SRSLY is partnering with St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea and the Community Mental Health Partnership of Southeast Michigan to lead free “Guiding Good Choices” parent workshops this fall.

These workshops help parents with communication, bonding, managing conflict, and setting rules and boundaries.

Guiding Good Choices is a series of five workshops, held over five weeks. SRSLY will be holding them in Chelsea on Thursdays from Oct. 3 to Oct. 31 from 4-6 p.m. in the Media Center at South Meadows Elementary School. (Note: the last session may be moved to another date due to Halloween)

Registration is required.

Parents, guardians and/or grandparents are welcome to attend. The program works best with caregivers who have a child between the ages of 9-14, but is open to anyone.

Oct. 3 – Session 1: Planning a Family Meeting

Oct. 10 – Session 2: Developing Healthy Beliefs and Clear Standards

Oct. 17 – Session 3: Refusal Skills for Youth

Oct. 24 – Session 4: Managing Conflict

Oct. 31 – Session 5: Strengthening Family Bonds

This program is evidence-based, and is proven to reduce youth substance abuse and other problematic behaviors. There is no charge to attend the workshops, and childcare is available upon request.
