Transition Town Chelsea to host potluck, U-M professor on Jan. 28

Transition Town Chelsea will welcome U-M Professor Thomas Princen who will give a talk on Monday, Jan. 28 following a potluck that begins at 6:30 p.m.

Princen will speak on “his signature studies, consumerism and sufficiency, as well as recent work on exiting the Fossil Fuel Era,” following the group’s January potluck, according to event information. He is the author of the award-winning books “Confronting Consumption” and “The Logic of Sufficiency” and is currently working on a new volume, “Leave It in the Ground.”

“Expect a lively discussion as we probe some of the underlying cultural forces that often go unnoticed in discussions of environment and economy – and gain an understanding of why the superficial proposals so often fail,” the event information states.

The potluck portion begins at 6:30 p.m. and Princen will begin his talk at about 7:15 p.m.

Those who plan to attend the potluck are asked to bring a dish to pass and their own place settings.  Entrees are appreciated.
