After five years of owning and operating True North Jerky and Foods, located at 12855 East Old U.S. 12, John and Courtney Heller have announced that Sunday, Feb. 12, they will be closing the business’s doors.

“We have had a great five years operating True North Jerky and Foods,” said John Heller. “We started down this path with the interest in sharing good food with our community, which in speaking to our customers, we have done.”

A combination of struggling to find enough workers to keep up with production needs, John Heller’s joint and muscle pain that is slowing him down, and balancing changing family needs has contributed to the decision to close the business.

“We are working through ways to open back up, including seeking out others that want to take things over,” said Heller.

The Hellers have been pleased with their customers and are working on ways to continue to serve them.

They say the decision to close is a difficult one, especially since they don’t have a clear path in front of them.
