The UMRC & Porter Hills Foundation recently announced two new members to its Board of Directors.
Reezie DeVet of Portage and Barbara Hohman of Grand Rapids, Michigan, joined the nonprofit, faith-based board on Feb. 15.
Reezie DeVet, who holds multiple degrees in nursing, nursing administration, and a doctorate in educational leadership, brings with her a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the healthcare field, including clinical nursing, teaching experience, and hospital administration.
Prior to her retirement, DeVet served as CEO of the hospital and healthcare system in Petoskey, Michigan and oversaw its affiliation and integration into the McLaren Healthcare System. Her work with healthcare consulting companies over the years has helped organizations improve operations and leadership capability, and she has co-authored books on quality improvement in nursing, physician practice, and ancillary services. From 1992 to 2000, DeVet served on the Porter Hills corporate board as well.
Barbara Hohman has nearly two decades of nonprofit fundraising experience, including nine years serving older adults at Senior Neighbors, Inc. and eight years leading her own consulting firm which she established in 2014. She also served Amway Corporation/Alticor in international public relations and community relations areas.
Hohman has created and led fundraising programs with West Michigan nonprofit organizations of all sizes, including the $70 million capital campaign to build and launch the new Grand Rapids Art Museum. Hohman was the 2015-16 Board President of the Association of Fundraising Professionals West Michigan and has volunteered with such nonprofits as the West Michigan Salvation Army Advisory Board and the Grand Rapids Symphony Development Committee. She was also president of the East Grand Rapids School Board.
UMRC & Porter Hills Foundation President Wendy Brightman said in a press release, “We are absolutely delighted and grateful to have these two extraordinarily talented, capable, and knowledgeable women join our Board. Barbara’s depth of expertise in nonprofit development and Reezie’s leadership in the area of nursing and healthcare administration will complement the experience already reflected in our Board’s membership. I have the utmost respect for these women, and I am confident their energy, grace, and devotion to our mission will help lead our Foundation and our organization to new heights.”
