The United Way of Chelsea fundraising campaign totals are moving upward, so be sure to take a look at the two thermometers — one in Veterans Park and the other in front of Chelsea Lanes.

Eric Keaton, president of the board of directors of the United Way of Chelsea, says with everyone’s help, “together we can build a stronger community.”

“Thank you, everyone for contributing so far and we’re halfway to our goal,” he says.

Ed Greenleaf, honorary chairman of this year’s fundraising campaign says, “To be at the half-way point this soon shows what a caring, giving and supportive community Chelsea is.”

Gifts to the United Way of Chelsea make a big difference in the lives of people throughout the community, Keaton says, adding, “When you live united, you join many others who care about the same thing: making sure everyone in this community has a chance for a better life.”

Greenleaf said that many people have noticed and commented on the two pledge drive thermometers, especially the one outside Chelsea Lanes.  “Each block that I add means more people and programs in this community will receive assistance from the United Way. And isn’t this what living in a small, close-knit community is really all about?”

“On behalf of all of those people in Chelsea who need your help, thank you for your generosity,” Keaton says.

The campaign is now halfway to its $100,000 goal, and all the money stays within the community and is distributed to member agencies, which assist local people.
