United Way of Chelsea kicks off 2014 campaign on Sept. 5

Join friends, neighbors and the United Way of Chelsea at Chelsea High School’s Niehaus Field Sept.5 as the volunteers kick off the 2014 United Way campaign and cheer on the Bulldog football team in its first home game of the season.

Chelsea hosts Belleville at 7 p.m.; come early to grab a seat, score some giveaway goodness and learn more about the seven local agencies supported by your United Way.

The United Way of Chelsea supports local organizations that provide food, clothing, healthcare, transportation and youth and senior support right here in Chelsea and Western Washtenaw County.

Chelsea Community Education
Community Ed scholarships supported by the United Way help more kids participate in youth sports programs.

Chelsea Grace Clinic
Grace Clinic provides healthcare to the uninsured and underinsured and helps residents who need health insurance get it through the Affordable Care Act.

Chelsea Senior Center
This growing community resource recently launched Chelsea Community Senior Services (C2S2), to connect seniors with services and help them age independently in their own homes.

Faith in Action
Faith in Action continues to meet the rising need for immediate food and clothing in our community, helps people navigate the social safety net and provides assistance in times of emergency need.

First Steps Washtenaw
First Steps Washtenaw helps parents establish a foundation for their kids’ social, physical and intellectual success. United Way support helps keep tuition affordable.

St. Louis Center
St Louis Center’s community support program helps the Center’s residents get involved in the wider community – through jobs and volunteer work and make healthy connections to others.

Western Washtenaw Area Value Express (WAVE)
WAVE provides low cost transportation – almost 45,000 rides a year that many riders rely on to get to medical appointments and stay connected to their community.

The United Way of Chelsea is a volunteer run local chapter of the United Way Worldwide. More than 90 percent of all donations to this chapter stay right here in our community.
