Update on “at risk” dog foods from Lane Animal Hospital

When it comes to the safety of you and your beloved pet(s), Lane Animal Hospital believes in constantly monitoring and verifying all information using multiple sources.

Through our own research we were able to determine a more concise list with the top brands that have been linked to Dialated Cardiomyopathy in canines.

Acana, Zignature, Taste of the Wild, 4health, Earthborn Holistic, Blue Buffalo, Nature’s Domain, Fromm, Merrick, California Natural, Natural Balance, Orijen, Nature’s Variety, NutriSource, Nutro, Rachel Ray Nutrish.

Here is a short list of some of the widely available pet foods that meet WSAVA (World Small Animal Veterinary Association) guidelines and perform independent Aafco (Association of American Feed Control) feeding trials. These are also the same brands our doctors and staff trust for their personal furry family.

Hills, Royal Canin, Purina, Eukanuba and Iams.

  1. And if you look at the Industry Partners who fund the WSAVA……
    https://www.wsava.org/About/Industry-Partners

The WSAVA is deliberately recommending dog foods from the dog food companies who give them money.
And trying to disparage the ones who are economically threatening to these “recommended” dog foods.

    Follow the money, people.

  2. I have fed Blue Buffalo for years and my pets are very healthy and have never had any problems. Shame on you Lane Vets. If you want to be of service to pet owners. Tell how bad “Old Roy” from WalMart is. But then you would be taking on the giant company and you apparently don’t have the courage to do that. My vets have briefed our Kennel Club on how bad and the health problems Old Roy creates.
