From art to fashion to tech tools and food, ‘Pop Up Shops’ are increasingly more popular than ever.

While the larger retailers such as Reebok, Sears and Best Buy take advantage of the pop-up, so do smaller more specialized businesses, such as these two holiday partnering businesses in Chelsea.

La Maison is a furniture and home decor gallery located in in the heart of Chelsea’s downtown district. USArtQuest is a unique art materials warehouse-style retailer located just outside of town.

With complimentary, not competing products, USArtQuest opened a Holiday Pop Up Shop inside La Maison.

With just 30 square foot space occupied by USArtQuest, it is filled with unique handmade papers, studio essentials, and prepackaged art supply kits. Both retailers believe the partnership is a benefit for customers, giving them easy access to new merchandise.

Taking over the retail world, pop ups have retailers rethinking how to connect with customers. Nordstrom initially launched the “pop-in” concept in late 2013, and the craze began.

What exactly is a shop that pops up? Well, pop ups are as innovatively creative as they are appealing and can come in any shape or size. But beware, they are here today and gone tomorrow! For the retailer, a pop up is a way to connect with customers, build awareness and generate excitement. For the consumer, it is an easygoing way to see new usually theme-focused products that are strategically placed.

Dana McGrath, owner of La Maison says, “The pop up creates a sense of excitement and urgency to visit the store. I’m certain that USArtQuest’s fresh inventory will appeal to many of our creative clients.”

On the flip side, Susan Pickering Rothamel, owner of USArtQuest says, “Those who seldom shop out of the downtown district can easily find creative gifts they might not have seen before in a setting that’s filled with beautiful home dec items. We hope too, that they’ll venture out to our larger retail warehouse for future shopping.”

USArtQuest’s Holiday Pop Up will only be available during the December holiday shopping season.
