Lima Township will have a new supervisor in November as Republican challenger William VanRiper received 295 votes while incumbent Republican Supervisor Duane Luick got 221 votes in the Aug. 8 primary elections, according to unofficial results.
VanRiper, a self-employed farmer, has lived in the township for more than 60 years.
Republican incumbent Treasurer Nanette Havens was the high vote-getter for that seat with 268 votes, while Republican challenger Phillip Kwaske received 221 votes.
Havens has held the seat for more than 20 years.
Incumbent Republicans running unopposed for the Township Board – Dale Luick and Greg McKenzie – received 241 and 347 votes, respectively.
Dale Luick was first elected to the board in 2020, while McKenzie is a long-time board member, having served for more than 20 years.
No one filed to run for the clerk position.
All the Republicans ran for the 4-year terms and will appear on the November ballot.
Of the 3,517 registered township voters, 1,224 cast ballots.
