What’s going on Thursday at the Sounds and Sights Festival

The three-day Sounds and Sights Festival gets underway today, July 26 with music throughout the downtown from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Here’s what’s on tap for the opening night of entertainment for the three-day festival — a balloon artist and a juggler, and jazz, folk, Celtic, blue grass, county, and smooth music.

Bear Lake will play in the social tent Thursday night

With an expected influx of 5,000-10,000 people in town each day, Chelsea Police Chief Ed Toth reminds residents to slow down, drive carefully and keep a close eye on pedestrians.

Since many out-of-town guests are looking for places to park, be patient and help them feel welcomed in Chelsea.

The food court will be open from 5-10 p.m. in a new location on West Middle Street, and the popular social tent opens at 6 p.m. behind the Common Grill. Live music begins at 7 and lasts until 11 p.m.  The Juliets, Bear Lake and The Hard Lessons are scheduled to play.

Keep in mind that there is a $5 cover charge for the tent, and all ages are welcome said Craig Common in a press release about the event.

The Sounds and Sights festival runs through Saturday, July 28 and includes an invitation-only arts and fine crafts market and activities for all ages, including the new Kid Zone next to the Teddy Bear Factory. So check it out.

Be sure to stick around until dusk for SRSLY Cinema and this week’s movie is “Mr. Hopper’s Penguins,” which has a PG rating.
