Younger swimmers get chance; Chelsea swims to another win vs. Lincoln

Last Thursday, Chelsea High School Swim and Dive beat Lincoln early in the week, 139- 46 and the Bulldogs swam many of the younger kids in the meet.

As the bulldogs prepare for the upcoming SEC Championships at the end of the month, many decisions still need to be made in regard to the lineup.

Chelsea led off the meet with a 1-2 finish in the 200 medley relay. Jacob Hartman, Tom Olsen, Max Lonnemo, and Jonny Mangner won with a time of 1:50.39.  Dylan Ousley, Drew Deppner, Carter Engler, and Aunic Goodin took second at 1:59.21.

It was a 1-2-3 finish for the Bulldogs in the 200 freestyle. Logan Simpson led the way with a season best performance at 1:57.78.  Zach Ousley was second in a time of 2:06.64 and Austin Horn cruised in at third in a time of 2:07.26

Nick Deppner swam the 200 IM and won easily at 2:14.51. Ben Thoms swam a career best at 2:19.50 and Lonnemo went 2:21.07 to take the second 1-2-3 finish for the powerful Bulldog squad.

Sam Almhiemid blasted to a win in the 50 freestyle clocking a 23.99. Engler went 25.06 to take second. Miles Fischer earned fifth-place honors with a 27.70.

Jacob Burris, Joey Smith and Sean Lyons went 2,3,4 in the 1-meter diving.  Burris scored a solid 245.90 points and Smith was close behind with a score of 228.90 points. Lyons scored a season high 146 points.

Will Wickens led the way for the Bulldogs in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:02.99.  Mitchell Taylor was fourth for the Bulldogs with a season best time of 1:15.36.

Yet again, the Bulldogs took a sweep in an event as they dominated the 500 freestyle. Horn led the way with a 5:40.16.  Aiden Carry was second overall with a season best of 5:41.79 and Zach Ousley went 5:45.28

Chelsea’s sprint relay kept the winning ways going as Zach McKinley, Horn, Taylor, and Sam Beale took the event with a 1:53.01 in the 200 freestyle relay.

Jacob Hartman cruised to victory in the 100 backstroke and Wickens was second.  Zach McKinley was fourth overall in a time of 1:15.25.

David Alday went out quick and distanced himself quickly in the 100 breast stroke winning with a time of 1:07.80. Tom Olsen was second with a time of 1:08.79.  Drew Deppner was 3rd at 1:15.87.

Chelsea finished the meet with a 1-2 finish in the 400 freestyle relay.  Simpson, Goodin, Lonnemo, and Horn won easily with a time of 3:52.69.  Sam Beale, Aiden Carry, Carter Engler, and Zach Ousley took second at 3:54.70.
