Rehearsals are underway for the Chelsea Area Players Youth Theater’s fun and imaginative musical, “Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr.”

Director Brian Myers said that rehearsals are going well. “The cast is very talented, and they learn easily,” he said.

The children, who range in age from third through eighth grade, rehearse three evenings a week through the winter, then rehearse daily in the weeks leading up to the performance.

“Schoolhouse Rock” highlights Tom, a young teacher about to start his first job who becomes inspired about how to influence his students. The music is from the Emmy Award-winning cartoon series that aired on ABC-TV on Saturday mornings from 1973-1985.

“Schoolhouse Rock” will be on stage at the Washington Street Education Center, March 22-23 at 7 p.m. and on March 24 at 3 p.m.

Tickets are available in advance at the Chelsea Pharmacy, 1125 South Main St. or at the door.
