Beach Middle School football recap

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Tanner Starkey, David Slusser, Larry Merx and Daniel Rhodes for the information in this story.)

7th grade blue
The Beach Middle School 7th grade blue team earned their first win of the season defeating Adrian in a 22-14 thriller on Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs were led on offense by a couple of touchdown passes from Jason Skoczylas to Hunter Sciackitano.

On defense, Jack Roberts did a great job pressuring the quarterback and Matt Gietzen and Carter Alexander each had a fumble recovery.

7th grade gold
The 7th grade gold football team took a big step forward this week against Tecumseh.

The Dogs lost, 38-14, but showed great improvement in their tackling and blocking. Andrew Stockton led the rushing attack with his first touchdown of the year. Lucas Dawson also ran one in from the quarterback position on the last play of the game. Will Wilhelm had some big hits on both sides of the ball.

8th grade
Tuesday night, the 8th grade football team combined both the blue and gold squads to play the Adrian Maples at the Maples’ home field. While the hosts were determined and showed some speed, they were no match for the combined forces of the Beach Middle School Bulldogs, who came away with a 34-0 win.

Behind some great blocking by the offensive line led by Colin Ledbetter, Aiden McGuire, Robert Sutch, Henry Lantis and a host of others – and wing backs Cole Munson, Carson Grayson, Ben Strzyzewski and Dan Garza, three fullbacks got into the end zone for scores. They were Trevor Voskers, who scored two PAT’s, Diego Medel scored one TD and Grayson Eckland scored one TD.

Wing back Gray also scored one PAT on the Faunkey kick.

Quarterback Jayden Woody scored two TD’s and connected with Liam Conti in the end zone for another TD.

Defensively, the Bulldogs stunned the Maples offense by consistently disrupting the Maples in the offensive backfield, recording several sack and tackles for loss. Robert Sutch, Fin Clatcher, Xander Willis, Drew Maguire, Chandler Cox and Carter Yax turned in outstanding games. Branden Emmert and Tyler McIntosh both recovered fumbles. Ryan Martin had an interception which set up a Bulldog TD and consistently pinned the Maples deep in their own territory with his kickoffs.

Next week, the blue and gold teams will again separate with the blue team hosting the Dexter Dreadnaughts and the gold team traveling to Bedford to play the Kicking Mules.
