Beach Middle School swim team finishes fifth in Erie Mason Invite

The Beach Middle School swim team finished a busy week with a 5th place finish at the Erie Mason Invitational on Saturday.

Milan won the meet with 339 points followed by Beford in 2nd with 307.5, Dundee 3rd, 213, Riverview 4th 205.5, Chelsea 5th with 169, Greenhills 6th, 54 and host Erie Mason 7th with 11 points.

Chelsea’s team was led by two championship performances with 8th grade co-captain Molly Jacobson taking first place in the diving event and 7th grader Bella Turner winning the 100 freestyle.

Turner also took 3rd pace in the 50 freestyle, Byron Hodel was 3rd in diving and Parker Olk placed 3rd in the 200 freestyle and 5th in the 50 butterfly

Turner, Olk, Jackson Peiter, and Chelsea Paddock combined for 3rd place in the 200 freestyle relay and co-captain Katie Leissner, Turner, Olk and Paddock were 3rd on the 400 freestyle relay.

Top 12 finishes were turned in by the 200 medley relay team of co-captain Hannah Harmes, Jared Atkinson, Jessica Neff and Landen Collins in 9th place, Leissner 8th in both the 200 and 100 freestyle events and Harmes was 11th in the 200 freestyle. Paddock was 10th and Atkinson 11th in the 100 IM, and Collins was 11th in the 50 freestyle.

The 200 freestyle relay team of Atkinson, Lucas Hopkins, Andrew Hilbert and Leissner placed 11th and Atkinson was 9th in the 100 breaststroke.

Earlier in the week, the team traveled to Milan for a dual meet and lost 120-50. Turner was a double winner with first place finishes in the 100 IM and 50 butterfly. Other outstanding performances were turned in by Harmes in the 200 freestyle, Olk in the 100 freestyle, and Leissner in the 100 backstroke.
