At the last Chelsea Kiwanis meeting, Cindy Triveline, race coordinator for Run for the Rolls spoke about the benefit the event is to the community and went over the route the one mile and the 5K would take. She announced that Michigan Lt. Governor Brian Calley and his son will participate in the run.

Triveline is also looking for volunteers to help during the run. If you’re interested, please sign up here.

Our Kiwanis trailer will be at Relay for Life on Aug. 8, which will take place at St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital‘s new Cancer Center parking lot. All the Kiwanis proceeds from the noon to midnight event will benefit the American Cancer Society.

“In addition to our signature dish knackwurst with sauerkraut,” says Bob Milbrodt, “other regular items – hot dogs, popcorn, nachos, and soft pretzels, we will be served along with chili dogs, walking tacos, black bean burgers, and hummus with pretzel chips.”

Our speaker Monday night, Aug. 3, will be “Mr. Clean” as we shine and polish up our trailer at the fairgrounds to make sure it’s in tip top shape for Relay for Life, the Chelsea Community Fair, and Chelsea High School football games, among the events at which we will appear in the next few months, he said.

Normally, the meeting begins at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy-Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m. Everyone is invited to the meetings to learn about Kiwanis.
