Feb. 8: Kiwanis Club to learn about the Chelsea Community Center feasibility study

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bob Milbrodt for the information in this story.)

Last week, the Chelsea Kiwanis Club heard about Alzheimer’s disease, which is the most common disease under the dementia umbrella. Currently, there is no cure. Victims and their care givers both suffer increasing frustration as the disease worsens.

The Alzheimer’s Association provides resources for families affected while working towards a cure. It also promotes brain health, as prevention is the best course. A healthy diet and keeping the mind active both help.

This Monday, the club will hear from Kiwanis President-Elect Jim Randolph on the report of the Chelsea Community Center Feasibility Study. A $25,000 grant from the Chelsea Community Foundation was used to determine the direction to proceed with the center.

The meeting begins each week at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy-Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m.

Everyone is invited to the meetings to learn about Kiwanis and click www.kiwanisclubofchelsea.org for more information.
