Nels R. Mickelson Jr. of Chelsea, formerly of Ypsilanti age 78, went to be with the Lord Friday, June 15, 2018 at Chelsea Retirement Community.
He was born Sept. 13, 1939 in Adrian, MI, the son of Nels R. Mickelson Sr., and Helen L. (Stage) Mickelson.
Nels attended the Chelsea Free Methodist Church. He was a Life Member of the Masons. Nels owned a grocery store in Rawsonville, MI, and later worked as a drywall finisher. He lettered in many sports in High School, and later enjoyed watching sports, especially football and basketball. Nels loved the outdoors and hunting. Later in life, he became an avid reader.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 21, 4 p.m. at Cole Funeral Chapel in Chelsea, with visitation Thursday from 2-4 p.m. Burial will be at Palestine Church Cemetery in Paris TN.
