This year’s Taste of Chelsea event, a fundraiser for St. Louis Center started out with the Italian theme of “Alla Tua Salute!” meaning “To Your Health” in English.
Approximately 200 people visited St. Mary Parish on Saturday, Oct. 7 to enjoy food and drink samples from all over the area.
This included new entries this year from Chelsea Big Boy, which donated one dozen fresh pies, Culvers on Jackson Road that donated 180 frozen custard cups, Los Tres Amigos, which donated tortilla chips and salsa and the new Pontiac Bakery owned by Mary Oesterle who baked 20 apple crumb pies.
This year’s other talented chefs, drink artists and wineries included: Arctic Breakaway, Carmella Foods, Catered Coffee, Chelsea Bakery, Chelsea Comfort Inn, Chelsea Milling, Common Grill, Cottage Inn Pizza, Fr. Bill’s Rice Pudding, Good Times Kettle Corn, Indian Brook Trout Farm, Laura’s Catering, Mancino’s – Zeeb Rd., Sand Hill Crane Winery, Smokehouse 52 BBQ, Stivers, Thompson’s Pizza, Uptown Coney Island, Zingerman’s Creamery, and Zou Zou’s Café.
“We were concerned about people not showing up because of the Michigan – MSU football game, but that wasn’t a deterrent, and we are grateful to everyone who came, said Joe Yekulis, who added, “Our restaurants and sponsors were tremendous this year. It was a great night and people really enjoyed the Italian music of Franceso and David from Paesano’s in Ann Arbor.”
