Tuesday evening, two Chelsea business owners wrote checks to Chelsea Community Hospital’s fundraising campaign for its new cancer center.

The donations were a portion of their sales from the weekend of Nov. 9-10.

Both Kevin Frahm of Global Marketplace and Lucy Silverio of Serendipity Books followed through on a promise to make donations to the new cancer center.

They invited Judy Stratman, director of development and marketing at the hospital, into Frahm’s store to personally hand her their checks.

Also on hand was Nancy Paul, director of Faith in Action, who received donations for the organization’s food pantry.

Fraham says that he’s still collecting non-perishable items for Faith in Action and as an added incentive, he’s offering 2-percent off  your purchases (up to 10 percent) for every 5 non-perishable items that you bring to his store for the food bank.

So, if you bring in 25 non-perishable items, you’ll receive a 10-percent discount on your shopping spree.
