This year’s Chelsea Art Market, which is part of the Sounds and Sights Festival, takes place on July 25-26, and will feature 37 Midwestern artists, chosen through a juried process.

The show takes place from noon-8 p.m. on West Middle Street during the festival.

“We have created a fresh indie-vibe for the Art Market and have actively sought out modish exhibitors with a fresh edge,” said Patti Schwarz, art market program coordinator and director of River Gallery + Exhibits, in a press release.

“Throughout the jury process, we stayed focused on our vision and kept our craftsmanship standards high.  This helped us assemble an array of exceptional artists who have reinvented the art market scene,” she said.

Various mediums will be represented including delicately, hand-painted ceramics by Jill Santa Rosa of Watercolor Pottery, beautiful wooden boxes made by William Nardin of WMN Woodworking, illustrations on magnets by Jodi Lynn‘s Emporium of Doodles and clay sculptures by VEO Art Studio.

The art market spectators also have the opportunity to watch downtown street artists as they demonstrate techniques in clay, glass, spray paint, jewelry making, painting, and wood.

One of the more unique demonstrators, Grant Willis Space Art, will create instant fantasy paintings using specialized spray paint techniques.

The 2-day, 3-night Sounds and Sights Festival takes place July 24-26 and draws more than 15,000 visitors annually and features national and regional live music acts, local food and brew, an annual public art sculpture exhibit and activities for the entire family.
