In yet another battle of public vs. private schools, the Chelsea boys varsity Bulldogs took on the Cougars of the Lanewee Christian Academy earlier this week.

Chelsea was looking to get back on track after falling to a very good Ann Arbor Huron team, but the Cougars were not going to make it easy.

The first half was very similar to the Huron game with each team trading buckets. However, the difference at the end of the first half was a couple steals and foul shots made and a deep three from Brady Friss putting the Dogs up by three, 20-17, at the half.

The second half went much the same way with each team trading buckets and fighting in the paint. Late in the fourth with the Dogs down 5, an intentional foul was committed by the Cougars and was followed by a frustration technical foul. With the two fouls and several deep 3’s by Ethan French and Ryan Mitchell, the game went in favor of the Dogs.

Ethan French lead the Dogs with 17 points followed by Ryan Mitchell with 15 and Trevor Kingsley with 10 points.

The Cougars are a very good team with two very dominant post players and a point guard that can hit from deep behind the arch. The difference was the depth of the bench for Chelsea.

Coach Josh Tropea was masterful using it to rest players with no letdown.

The win puts the Dogs at 10- 2 on the season.

The Bulldogs look to continue their winning ways this Friday as they take on the Eagles of Skyline in Ann Arbor.
