Chelsea Kiwanis to discuss FY budget

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bob Milbrodt for the information in this story.)

Monday, Chelsea Kiwanis Club members will discuss the proposed budget for the club’s October through September fiscal year. Members have been sent a copy of the figures put together by the budget committee last month.

The club has two separate accounts.

The civic account includes money raised in the community, and is only spent for projects that benefit members of the community. An example is the money raised at our food concession trailer is used to fund preschool scholarships for the school district, support for Chelsea Boy and Girl Scouts, the intergenerational garden at the Senior Center, and Faith in Action, to name just some. The needs of children are our prime focus.

The other account is the member account. Income is from our members and can be used for their benefit. Members pay for dues, meals, attendance at district education meetings, and conventions, both here in Michigan and internationally.

Club membership will be asked to make any changes this Monday evening. The following Monday, members will be asked to approve the final draft of the budget.

Our meetings are open to the public. Our club exists to serve the community.

Normally, Chelsea Kiwanis meets each Monday at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m.

Everyone is invited to the club’s meetings to enjoy our speakers and learn about Kiwanis.
