Lima Township planners approve special use permit

By Lisa Carolin

The Lima Township Planning Commission met via Zoom conference Monday, April 27, and voted unanimously to approve a special use application from the owners of Tanner Excavating at 375 S. Freer Road

Although commission members agreed to the special use permit in February, they wanted to see the addition of several requests that included additional berms and trees.

Patrick and Alicia Tanner, owners of Tanner Excavating, have a homestead, farm, and business all located at 375 S. Freer Road.

The special use application is to store equipment both inside and outside at that address.

The planning commission also requested that the Tanners keep their hours of operation to 7 a.m.-7 p.m. and that the commission review the special use permit every three years.

The commission had also received feedback from John Enos of Carlisle/Wortman Associates, Inc., who said that the special use permit preserves the rural character of the township and that the equipment will be screened for the most part from Freer Road.

Nanette Havens and William Coltre were absent for the vote.
