Zou Zou’s plans redevelopment expansion project; requests liquor license

Chelsea logo 2(My apologies to Patti Schwarz for the incorrect spelling of her name.)

The Chelsea City Council recently approved a request by Zou Zou’s Café to apply for a redevelopment liquor license.

Cavanaugh Investments, LLC and Marie Ann Fody and GENMAR, Inc. (dba Zou Zou’s Café) requested the city’s support for the state issued license as part of an expansion project that’s expected to be completed in the next six months.

The company plans to invest about $150,000 into the project, and needed City Council approval to make a request to the state for the special liquor license.

Also at the Jan. 19 meeting, the City Council unanimously approved the reappointment of Patti Schwarz and Tim Merkel to the city’s Downtown Development Authority for 4-year terms ending Dec. 31, 2019.

The City Council also approved a budget work session for Monday, May 2 from 6-7 p.m. and a second work session if needed for 6-7 p.m. on Monday, May 9.

  1. Check the spelling of Patti Schwarz’s last name. Easy mistake to make, but she has
been involved downtown for many years.

Besides that, excited about the restaurant and Zou Zou’s plans.
