Oct. 25: ‘Voters not politicians’ community forum

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Elizabeth Hammer for the information in this story.)

Voters Not Politicians (VNP), the committee officially working on the “non-partisan legislative boundary authorization initiative,” has been actively petitioning to put a proposal on the 2018 ballot that would reform the redistricting process in Michigan.

Would you like to learn more about this effort?

Then this community forum is the place to learn.

The group will hold its first of three forums on Wednesday, Oct. 25 from 7-9 p.m. at the Washington Street Education Center in Room 100.

You may have seen the local members of that committee, gathering signatures at the fair, the bowling alley, the farmers market, or other places around town, but felt you needed more information before you wanted to sign.

You can learn more about redistricting, the VNP proposal, how it relates to other reform efforts, and what would happen in Michigan if it is adopted, at these community forums.

If you can’t make this date, the group will hold two additional forums:

  • Sunday, Nov. 5, 2-4 p.m., Chelsea District Library
  • Monday, Nov. 13, 12:30 to 2 p.m., Chelsea Senior Citizens Center

(These events are independently sponsored by VNP, not by the organizations that have provided the space for the community’s information.)
