Sounds & Sights on Thursday Nights kicks off its free summer concert series in a week.

The opening night is Thursday, June 6, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. when professional artists perform at 10 staged areas throughout the downtown featuring music, dance, comedy, and family entertainment.

Now in its ninth season, Sounds & Sights showcases the talents of crowd favorites like Cold Tone Harvest, Dave Boutette, Annie and Rod Capps, and The Bluescasters and welcomes new performancers such as The Modern Day Drifters and Pianos on Fire.

Interactive performance artists ‘Spontaneous Art’ will be downtown in costume to create entertaining spectacles that alter routine daily life. Bystanders become part of the act as spectators jump in to help shape the direction of the skits.

There is something for everyone including 3 Generations Entertainment balloons, Eric the Juggler, and a pop and lock dancer named ‘Poppet’.

The Chelsea District Library’s Comedy Showcase opens with the comic storyteller Norm Stulz on the library lawn.

In addition to the music, visitors are able to interact with SculptureWalk Chelsea, a self-guided walking tour of 12 juried sculptures.
