The return of the Chelsea Relays on Friday, April 19 wound up a close one with six teams and the top four teams separated by just 7 points.

On a 40-degree and windy day, Chelsea finished second by 1 point to Holt, which ended the meet with 68 points.

Chelsea finished with 67 points and Jackson was third with 64 points.

“In a close meet like this, every person in every event counts, and we missed our share of opportunities,” said Head Boys Track and Field Coach Eric Swager.

The coach said the team continues to “struggle with relay handoffs, and field event execution.”

Plus, he said, for the first time this year, “all of our distance runners were not at our best.”

Using the meet as a learning experience, Swager said the team needs to learn from mistakes “and find a way to execute across the board.”

He said the bright spots continue to be this team’s attitude and support for each other.

The track and field team enters two weeks of meets where the guys “need to sharpen our execution as we prepare for the Regional Meet,” which is about a month away.

The results are included below.
