Next time you visit the Chelsea Chiropractic Center, enjoy the artwork on display, courtesy of students at Chelsea High School.

For the last two years, students have been decorating the bulletin board in Dr. Jim Duncan‘s office. Duncan and his wife, the office manager, approached some friends of their daughter about adding some art to the office and the idea was born.

The first artist was student Mickey Erickson, who graduated last year. Duncan contacted Erickson’s art teacher, Laura Naar, about continuing to get students to provide their artwork in his office, and a new partnership was born between the local business and the school district.

“Our patients have really enjoyed the different boards,” said Duncan.  “We get a lot of positive feedback and lots of questions about who did the work.”

The current board was designed and mounted by Abe Cone and Roy Schmidt Jr., and the previous board was designed by Nicole Herman.

The Chelsea Chiropractic Center at 901 Taylor St. has been around since 1969, originally owned by Dr. Jerry Flinn. Duncan bought the practice in 2001 after Flinn retired.

“We care for patients of all ages,” said Duncan. “I have newborns come in to be checked after birth and our most senior patient is currently 104 years old. I have cared for weekend warriors, high school and college athletes as well as a couple of professional athletes.”

Duncan says that many people come to see him because of back pain, sciatica, neck pain and headaches, but that a number of people stay on because they believe that chiropractic care helps them to stay healthy.
