Chelsea Community Education is off to a strong start in 2020, and Scott Theisen, community education supervisor, wants people to know about all the new programs that are being offered.

“Some Community Education programs to look forward to this spring are ballroom dancing and dog obedience, which is back after a yearlong absence,” said Theisen.

He says that cardio-drumming for adults is another new program. The class uses drumsticks and exercise balls along with music as a way to get the body moving and blood flowing.

“Some new programs with our Community Ed for kids include ultimate frisbee this spring, which is a team game in which players attempt to move a frisbee down the field to score points while the opposing team attempts to stop the movement and score in the other direction,” explained Theisen.

Also this spring, the All About Animals Club for kids grades K-2 kicks off. Kids will learn about safety and care for animals and participate in related games and crafts.

For youth this summer, community education will offer robotics camp, WRAP Camp, and Camp Gabika.

Theisen says that the winter months have been busy as well for Chelsea Community Education. One very successful event was the recent Daddy-Daughter Dance, when more than 600 people attended.

“Adult pickle ball classes have been thriving,” said Theisen, who says pickle ball will continue through the spring.
