Chelsea Community Fair Board receives $14,000 grant

For the second year in a row, the Chelsea Community Fair Board has received a matching grant that was used for upgrades to the fairgrounds.

Last year, the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development grant was used to put new roofs on buildings, this year, 11 new overhead doors were replaced — five doors on the livestock buildings, two doors on the merchant building, one on the horse barn, two on the exhibit barn and one door on the red barn said Jamie Lane, who wrote the matching grant.

“It’s a work in progress,” said Fair Board President Rick Boham.

The doors that weren’t done will be added to a capital improvements list that the fair board is putting together.
