Chelsea DDA Seeks Two Members, Learns of Upcoming Chamber of Commerce Events

The Chelsea Downtown Development Board held its first meeting of 2022 on Feb. 17 and discussed a wide range of topics including the proposed plan for a park on the old Federal Screw property.

This plan will be the topic of a 6 p.m., Chelsea City Council work session on Feb. 22 that will take place in person in the City Council chambers but will also be available via Zoom.

In addition, the board has two open seats and encouraged business owners or residents in the DDA district to apply. See the end of this story for more information.

In the next two months, the DDA will hold budget discussions including prioritizing projects for FY 2022-2023.

Terris Ahrens, executive director of the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce, reminded the DDA that nominations for Citizen of the Year, Lifetime Achievement and Non-Profit of the Year are due by March 2.

He also gave a brief overview of upcoming events, including Chelsea’s newest festival – Pizzapalooza on April 23 at Palmer Commons. The annual chamber fundraising golf outing will take place on June 7 at Pierce Lake Golf Course, and Sounds and Sights on Thursday Nights, will take place downtown in June and July with the Sounds and Sights Festival scheduled for July 29-30.
