The Aug. 18 Chelsea District Library Board of Trustees meeting (via Zoom) opened with a budget hearing and a board review of the 2021 Budget.

Library Director Lori Coryell presented the balanced budget that included a request for a 2-percent pay increase for all staff.

She also shared that all programming throughout November will be implemented remotely due to Covid-19.

The library is continuing to operate at Stage 3 of its reopening plan, which includes curbside delivery, virtual and remote offerings, and limiting the number of staff inside the building.

There were just over 6,000 thousand items checked out in July.

Upcoming programs include the Young Art exhibit, which will be on display during the month of September in the McKune Room. The public may view the exhibit by appointment, and health protocols will be followed. The exhibit will feature close to 50 original illustrations from Caldecott Medal recipients.

Serendipity Books and the Chelsea Human Rights Commission will partner with the Chelsea District Library for the community read that will include a virtual read-in on Sept. 12 and a remote book discussion on Sept. 29.
