When the Downtown Development Authority Board meets next month, it will be a half hour later at 8 a.m. and there will be a new secretary in Rob Mida as well.
At the April 21 DDA meeting, the board also approved its FY 2022-2023 budget that includes $20,000 allocated for parking lot maintenance, $6,500 for sculpture walk, $5,000 for marketing, $28,500 for streetscapes, which includes painting of all the downtown light poles, street signs, parklets, information signs, street furnishings and flower beds.
In addition, Chelsea Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Terris Ahrens reminded the DDA Board that Pizzapalooza is this Saturday in Palmer Commons beginning at 5 p.m. with music, beer, and pizza. It will take place following the conclusion of Authors in Chelsea and run until 10 p.m.
Ahrens reminded the board that the annual Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce golf outing will take place on June 8 at Pierce Lake Golf Course and both sponsors and golfers are welcome.
He also said that Sounds and Sights on Thursday Nights will begin on June 2 and run through all of June and July on Thursday nights, ending with the Sounds and Sights Festival on July 29-30.
If you are looking forward to viewing new sculptures downtown, Ahrens said city staff will begin assisting the artists in installing their artwork in May. He also told the board to save the date for the Backyard Beer Garden that will take place on Oct. 1.
