Chelsea High School Concerto to perform May 1

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Sarah Proegler for the information in this story.)

The Chelsea High School Concerto will perform on Wednesday, May 1, at 7 p.m. at Chelsea High School.

It will be an evening of amazing performances by Chelsea High School students, featuring select seniors of the Class of 2013.

The music program engages all students starting in 5th grade by offering chorus, band and orchestra options. It is this early engagement and exposure to many music styles, genres and musical groups that compel many of the students to make music a central part their educational experience.

For those that stick with it through their senior year, the culminating event is the Concerto Concert, which offers the opportunity for these accomplished musicians to share their talents and gifts with their friends, family and the community at large.

The evening of choral, orchestral and wind performances which include solo performance and small ensembles rivals any evening of entertainment you will find of this type.

Seniors being featured this year include: Nathan Obenchain, Josh Tucker, Kennedy Aldrich, Gwen Hubbard, Joel Myers, Judy Kim, Elizabeth Boyce, Sarah Carrara, Ella Fritzemeier, Michael Varner,  Mare Almhiemid, Audrey Bloom, Erica Vanneste, Nick Wilson, Matt Caister, Travis Preston, Nick Dewyer and Laurel Hall.

So come celebrate the accomplishments of these 18 performers and attend this special concert.

A punch-and-cookie reception will follow the concert.
